Biography

Since 1997, Mirjam Niederöst lives as a freelance dancer, choreographer and yoga teacher in Zürich. She got her education as a dance and movement teacher in Zürich and continued her studies for contemporary dance in London at the Laban Centre. Her interest in a deeper connection between emotions and body language made her study another 2 years movement and dance therapy. After years of yoga and meditation practice, she finally got the yoga teacher diploma and now teaches at the yogabinz studio in Zürich.
As a versatile artist, she choreographs her own solo dance project as well as side specific group pieces and Improvisations in many different contexts. She’s looking regular for exchange with other artist as well as the cooperation with musicians. Video experiments are another area in her work. And because all these are still not enough different forms of expression, she’s also been doing painting for years and writes different things, such as diary, poetry, song texts and short stories.
Beside this she’s director and choreographer in a musical project for young people.
